KIPP in the Community – December 2017 Edition

As we reflect on the last month of 2017, we would like to extend a huge ‘Thank You’. Thanks to all the community members, partners, and families who work tirelessly to ensure students in D.C. have access to the most high-quality, joyful educational experience. We’ve accomplished a lot this year, and it could not have been done without you.

°ÄÃÅÀÏÈËζ Tier 1 schools breakfast

°ÄÃÅÀÏÈËζ schools earn Tier 1 status from DC Public Charter School Board –ÌýCongratulations to the record number of °ÄÃÅÀÏÈËζ schools that were awarded tier 1 status by the D.C. Public Charter School Board! Awarded school leaders attended the Tier 1 Awards Breakfast and received their awards on behalf of their school. We’re proud of the partnership between school leaders, teachers, communities, students, and families.Ìý

Accenture team at Heights AcademyEdFest 2017 kicks off Enrollment Season –ÌýOn December 9, the °ÄÃÅÀÏÈËζ community relations team, school leaders, teachers, and staff members battled the snowfall and met potential °ÄÃÅÀÏÈËζ families at EdFestÌý2017. EdFest gives students and families the opportunity to explore and learn about different D.C. schools options all in one central location. We’re always delighted to meet interested students and families and share the great work of our current scholars. Interested in enrolling? Learn more and enroll by in PreK3 – 8 by March 1.

ED Reform Now Panel at °ÄÃÅÀÏÈËζ Arts and Technology Academy

Education Reform Now Tour and Panel at °ÄÃÅÀÏÈËζ Smilow Campus –ÌýOn December 7,Ìýhosted an Exploring Charter School Restarts tour and panel at °ÄÃÅÀÏÈËζ Arts & Technology Academy in Ward 7. The event consisted of a tour of preschool classrooms, interaction with students and teachers, and concluded with an informative panel and Q&A. The panel included Rick Cruz, Tim Fields, Allison Fansler (°ÄÃÅÀÏÈËζ President), Allison Artis (°ÄÃÅÀÏÈËζ Arts & Technology Principal),Ìýand was moderated by Ms. AbigailÌýSmith. We always enjoy the opportunity to work with and share our experiences in the education space.

Northeast Orchestra Winter ConcertKIPPstersÌýWinter Performances across °ÄÃÅÀÏÈËζ –ÌýThis season, students participated in many showcases, concerts, and performances. From the °ÄÃÅÀÏÈËζ College Preparatory fall play, to KEY Academy’s annual orchestra concert, to Promise Academy’s ‘Around the World’ Cultural Fair, and Heights Academy‘s ‘Hour of Code’ with – our Ìý°ÄÃÅÀÏÈËζ students have been showing off their talents and hunger for learning, arts, and culture all month.
